The new Cirque du Soleil production, Drawn to Life, debuted tonight at Disney Springs. Ultimately, “Drawn to Life” is probably exactly the show Disney and Cirque wanted - with its family-friendly and life-affirming vibe - and a show neither totally wanted, with the disparate storytelling ideas. The pacing strangely slackens instead of building as the show approaches its climax, and the final number, featuring a team of acrobatic women who leap between two moving plank swings, delivers a female-empowerment message but lacks the pizazz of a larger-than-life, stage-filling showstopper. Drawn To Life was first talked about in 2017 when it was announced that the long running La Nouba would be ending its run and that a collaboration between Disney and Cirque du Soleil would be. While the massive tent on the West Side of Disney Springs has remained without a Cirque du Soleil show since, a new show was announced called Drawn to Life presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney. Without giving too much away, the show revolves around a married couple and their young daughter. And yet, there are certain factors that may not make it the right choice for your family. A graceful hand-to-hand act, with additional theatrical tricks, creates a touching emotional sequence between a woman (Myriam Deraiche) and her late husband (Samuel Charlton) in "Drawn to Life" from Cirque du Soleil and Disney. In fact, Drawn the Life is the most kid-centric show in Cirque du Soliel’s portfolio.
